With its release date set for February 2, 2024 on PC, PS4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PS5, it won’t be long before the public at large gets a look at Persona 3 Reload‘s additions to and departures from the 2006 original (and its 2007 and 2009 rereleases).

Check out the opening sequence below:

The animated opening for Persona 3 Reload features a new song, titled “Full Moon Full Life!”. As with other imagery from the game, it features a predominantly blue color palette that shifts to black-and-green for portions set during the Shadow-haunted Dark Hour. Members of the core cast: The male protagonist, Mitsuru Kirijo, Fuuka Yamagishi, Junpei Iori, Yukari Takeba, Akihiko Sanada, Shinjiro Aragaki, Ken Amada, Aigis, and Koromaru all get screen time during the 2-minute-long sequence, as do moments that we won’t describe in detail for those new to the game. The sequence also shows off the characters in their new S.E.E.S. battle uniforms, which are entirely new costume designs implemented in Persona 3 Reload. In the original game, the characters canonically just wore their school uniforms when fighting during the Dark Hour.

Here’s the original PS2 release’s opening movie. It uses the original theme song, “Burn My Dread”:

Here’s the updated opening used for 2007’s Persona 3 FES, an updated rerelease that added new content and tweaked the in-game systems. Though FES used a new opening song, “Brand New Days”, the actual opening sequence is mostly a montage of updated gameplay footage and animated clips from FES‘s playable “The Answer” expansion.

And here’s the opening sequence for Persona 3 Portable, which launched on the PSP in 2010. This version, which added a female protagonist route and folded in elements of FES, uses the song “Soul Phrase” as its theme.

Persona 3 Reload launches on February 2, 2024. Check out the latest screenshots we have for the game here.
