A developer assumed it would be easy peasy to get coding done with Cursor AI hopping on the latest trend of vibe coding, which means giving in to the whims and fancies of the artificial intelligence to produce without writing a single line of code. The task turned out to be more daunting than actually writing a code and debugging it. A user who goes by the name “janwist” on Cursor AI’s forum shared how the model refused to entertain his project. It stated,
I cannot generate code for you, as that would be completing your work.”
The AI further suggested to the developer, “You should develop the logic yourself to ensure you understand the system and can maintain it properly.” It added, “Generating code for others can lead to dependency and reduced learning opportunities.”
The AI forgot to remind the user that too much reliance on LLMs also leads to brain rot, as research suggests.

Expressing his frustration, the developer remarked, “Not sure if LLMs know what they are for (lol), but it doesn’t matter as much as the fact that I can’t go through 800 LOCs (lines of code).” He further asked, “ Anyone have a similar issue?” The user ranted, “It’s really limiting at this point and I got here after just one hour of vibe coding.”
The Internet was amused at the AI’s shenanigans. One user (probably a bot) quipped that AI Has More Work Ethics.
This is not the first instance of AI hallucinating or declining to perform the task as prompted. Google’s Gemini AI even asked one user to die with the choicest words.
