Shiren the Wanderer: The Mystery Dungeon of Serpentcoil Island online features detailed

Spike Chunsoft has updated the Japanese official website for Shiren the Wanderer: The Mystery Dungeon of Serpentcoil Island with new details about the online features. In the series’ latest sixth mainline entry, players will be able to upload dungeon IDs to request a rescue mission or trigger a Parallel Play mode.

When your character gets knocked out by running out of HP, you will be given up to 3 chances to request a Rescue Mission and be revived without having to start over and lose all items. Other players from all around the world will be able to input the Rescue ID or view the Rescue Board to access the mission. However, you don’t have to rely on online rescuers all the time, as the game will also have a Self-Rescue feature where you can attempt a rescue mission on your own.

The rescuer will enter the exact same dungeon, but the room where the original player gets incapacitated will be turned into a Monster House where a lot of enemies roam inside. After killing all enemy monsters in the room, they can revive the original player and the mission ends right there. Any items and money the rescuer obtains during the mission will be converted to bonus points that can be spent to unlock equipable advantages that will apply to future Rescue Missions, such as starting with a higher character level, HP, or stomach fullness.

The company also revealed more details about the previously teased Parallel Play mode. A player can generate a Parallel ID at any point inside a dungeon floor. This will completely replicate the current playthrough’s data, from dungeon structure and enemy placements to the player’s position and equipment. The other player who inputs the ID will start the stage at the exact same moment it was made.

Spike Chunsoft mentioned several possible use cases for Parallel Play, such as challenging other players to solve a difficult dungeon or enter a time-attack competition, or planning a relay playthrough with other fellow streamers. However, this mode seems to be only intended for fun as items and money obtained in this playthrough will not be retained nor converted to bonus points. And unlike the global rescue missions, Parallel dungeon IDs can only work on clients with the same language setting.
